That divorce bothers him and that's why he likes to talk about it. He is, as he himself says, an open book. Everyone in their neighborhood and at the airport knows their story.
One day, he is standing in line while shopping when John, a vague acquaintance from the village, speaks to him.
“Hey Jacques, that's a long time ago. How are you doing now? '
“Hey uh, John, right? Well, it's okay. I just got divorced so yes, I've felt better before. '
“Jeez, divorced man. That is not good. What about the house and stuff? Can you get by a bit? '
“It's going... Net. I do my job, of course, but it was easier to pay the mortgage as a couple. '
“Yes, I get it... But you work at Schiphol, right? Then you can earn some extra money, right? '
“What do you mean?”
“Well Jacques... Do I have to draw it out? Do a job once. It makes a good deal of money. Can you get ahead of a year like that. '
John convinces Jacques to pull out a package for him that is hidden in an airplane. Jacques agrees, after all, he could really use those few thousand euros. He is nervous and a bit tense, but he manages to get the package off the airport. Afterwards, he swears to himself: once - never again. Unfortunately, John thinks otherwise. He keeps texting Jacques. His tone changes and Jacques no longer feels safe. How could he have prevented this?...
